Councillor Vince Meegan (Letters, September 12) must be joking when he attempts to provide some form of justification for the perpetrators of the ugly graffiti that blights our city when he suggests they may have self-esteem problems.

It certainly does my self-esteem no good - or that of the station staff - to see Moulsecoomb and London Road station continually daubed with slogans that have to be painted over.

I would be interested to hear the explanation Coun Meegan would give to my fellow residents who had to pay for a new lock to the front door of our block of flats after someone put Superglue in it.

He may suggest it is society's fault for not understanding the youth of today.

I was brought up in a single-parent family but I knew right from wrong and the sooner tough action is taken on all forms of antisocial behaviour in Brighton and Hove, with no excuses, the better for all our law-abiding citizens.
