Five Brighton firms are short-listed for a new award.

Entries for The Baker Tilley Invention in Business Juicy Award have been whittled down to a handful of local businesses that have come up with new ideas in the past year.

They will now be put to the public vote and the winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Brighton Dome on September 23.

The winner will receive six months of free business consultancy from Baker Tilly.

The event will be hosted by a number of celebrities who live in the city, including Norman Cook and Zoe Ball.

The entries were judged by Jonathan Ericson, managing partner of Baker Tilley, and a panel from The Sussex Innovation Centre and Sussex Enterprise.

The awards recognise and showcase the talent and creativity behind the city's best bars, restaurants, clubs, comedy nights and business innovations.

The five finalists are:

Brighton Artists' Gallery (BAG), a space created for up-and- coming artists who cannot afford to show their work at bigger galleries. It was the brainchild of Alicia Murphy
Harvard Consultancy Services, a leading culture sector consultancy providing strategy development, research/analysis and business planning.

Cbabiesafe, a nursery where parents can watch their kids at any time using state-of-the-art web cameras.
