It is time the fact regarding the King Alfred centre was faced.

That fact is the residents of Hove do not trust Brighton and Hove City Council.

The opinion of the public should have been sought by an independent body and the results published by that body.

Instead of doing that, the council itself organised the poll, issued a document full of bias and reported the result.

A survey of the building was undertaken by a well-known company but some important matters were not examined.

A detailed costing of all necessary repairs should be undertaken forthwith by a qualified company and the result made public.

It is only with this information that a judgement can be made about the future of the King Alfred and if it is such that the hopes of the friendly developers are disappointed, so be it.
