Peter Lloyd is used to running a large company from the comfort of his office.

But the Hove-based managing director swapped his suit for overalls and went back to the shop floor.

Mr Lloyd, who founded Initial Retail Cleaning and used to get his hands dirty himself, exchanged his company car for a ride-on scrubber dryer and his lap-top for a mop to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

He spent the day cleaning a Tesco store.

Peter, 52, said: "Having got to be managing director it seemed right to get out there and see what is going on at the coal face.

"Managers all too easily lose touch with work going on at grass roots. It was also good to raise money for charity.

"I was very encouraged by the experience and hardly heard any criticisms."

Peter, who was born in Brighton and Hove, chose the society because his wife Sue is a sufferer.
