Dominic Clapp compiled an unbeaten 90 to lead a strong Sussex fightback in their Second XI Championship match against Glamorgan at Horsham.

Clapp stroked 16 boundaries and shared in an opening stand of 166 with Bas Zuiderent (77) as Sussex reached 194-1 in their second innings to lead by 125.

Sussex will now push on before leaving their opponents a decent last-day target of around 250 in the hope they can bowl them out for a second time.

Clapp and Zuiderent gave them the ideal platform and Zuiderent had cracked 11 boundaries from 136 balls when he edged fast-bowler David Harrison to slip.

Sussex earlier restricted Glamorgan's first innings lead to 69 by bowling them out for 336 after they had resumed on 151-1. Jason Lewry claimed 3-64 from 25.3 overs and was also responsible for two run-outs, including that of opener Ian Thomas, who made 68.
