Well said, Jez MacDonald (Letters, August 5). You may be a relative newcomer to our fair city but you see us with a clear eye.

We are a vibrant, colourful place to be. Culture thrives here, the weather is astounding, whatever the season, and we have the sea.

What we suffer from is the general English malaise of grumbling.

Doubtless, when the grumblers inadvertently arrive in heaven, they'll find something to complain about - clouds too fluffy, too many harps etc.

Bless 'em!
