In response to your correspondent (Letters, July 30), Brighton and Hove City Council already operates a popular free doorstep recycling service serving 40 per cent of homes in the city.

The council's Paperchasers service collects newspapers, magazines and catalogues for recycling, helping to reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill sites. The service was launched last year and extended in May this year because it proved so successful and popular with residents.

The council is planning to extend the service to homes in other parts of the city in phases and is looking at piloting the collection of a range of materials from residents.

We would like to thank residents who already receive the Paperchasers service for their support and participation. Anyone requiring further information about the Paperchasers service, should call 01273 274674.
