I have to confess I am a little confused by the new approach to transport outlined by Councillor Brian Oxley (July 31).
Only recently, he was promoting underground car parks on Hove Lawns (presumably so the Greens can park their motorised bikes after a brisk ride on the pedestrianised seafront).
Now apparently, and quite correctly, he wants to encourage public transport alternatives. The problem is, so far, all he has done to promote this is to ask South Central if it is having a new menu on their trains.
The last Tory Government's answer to transport was the disastrous privatisation of the railways and the triumph of the Cones Hotline. Off the wall then and off the wall now.
