I was very concerned to read of the experience of Bradley Long on the late-night Hove-to-Worthing train (July 29).

I thought if the emergency cord was pulled, somebody would come and investigate the reason for the emergency.

This not being the case, I find it worrying that, if on a train and the emergency cord is pulled, you are not likely to get any assistance from rail staff.

Somebody could have fallen from the train or may have needed medical attention.

Bradley was subjected to a motiveless attack and nobody seemed to want to know.

This situation must stop if the travelling public is to have confidence in our railways.

With CCTV at Shoreham, where the offenders got off, and video at Hove Station, hopefully, the offenders will be caught and brought to justice.

This behaviour cannot be tolerated and the punishment must fit the enormity of this attack.
