I wonder how many other grey-haired teenagers masquerading as responsible adults S.L. of Lewes irritated as much as me with his callous remarks regarding the death of motorcyclists (Letters, July 19)?

Because I ride a motorcycle, I assume I am included in his sweeping and inaccurate statements about motorcyclists.

I also find it very sad I have to share the country's roads - indeed, the planet - with this person, who seems devoid of any compassion whatsoever.

All road deaths are tragic, however caused and to whichever category of road user they happen - pedestrian, horse rider or cyclist. They are all someone's son, daughter, sister, brother, mother or father.

I trust S.L. of Lewes is of such high moral standing that should he need - heaven forbid - the emergency services he will decline the help of a paramedic or police officer should either arrive on a motorcycle.

Ride safely, boys and girls.
