I regularly walk to collect my morning paper, tripping my careful way to the newsagent.

Last year - or was it the year before? - someone had carefully painted white kisses on irregular pavement slabs. This year, there are fresh white painted dots.

This artistic effort must certainly have kept an expensive Brighton and Hove City Council surveyor employed for a few weeks. However, during the years, the pavements have continued to remain uneven, with additional cracks from badly parked lorries and cars.

When shall I see an avalanche of council workers repairing these pavements, which are getting more and more dangerous?
