I agree with Adam Trimingham's views regarding Preston Park (The Argus Weekend, April 20).
It seems to be taking forever for Brighton and Hove City Council to restore the park to its former glory. The council obtained a £750,000 Lottery grant five years ago and very little money has been spent on the south end
of the park.
The flower beds fronting Preston Road are always spectacular and well kept. However, the pond in the Rotunda garden is a dirty mess with polluted water that children play with in the summer months. The fountain's lions' heads have disappeared, as have the rose garden statues. The Rotunda cafe needs restoration, as do the sports pavilions. The ornamental lamps at the entrance to the park all appear to have broken heads.
These are just a few of the features that need restoring. I hope the council's fine words will materialise in some action.
