A health workers' version of the successful Friends Reunited web site has become a hit.

Six weeks after the launch of Medics Meet Again, the site has been visited by more than 4,000 people.

A further 600 have also fully registered with the site and can now link up with former colleagues and fellow trainees wherever they are in the world.

The site is the brainchild of nurses Helen Thorpe and Jo Bell who were desperate to meet up with old friends but had no way of tracing them.

Now nurses, doctors, dentists, porters and surgeons can all register to try to find anyone they have lost contact with.

Mrs Thorpe, from Hove, and Mrs Bell, from Portslade, both work at St Peter's Medical Centre in Brighton.

Mrs Bell said: "There has been a lot of interest and the word is definitely getting around.

"We are still waiting for our first reunion story but have high hopes one will come along soon.

"I am really looking forward to tracking down the people I trained with and there are a lot of other people who feel the same."
