John Parry (The Argus, April 19) seems to be under the impression the Save Our Seafront campaign enjoys the support of the majority over St Modwen's proposals.
He is clearly confused and trying to mislead readers.
In the same edition of The Argus, an article stated the SOS scheme has the support of only 15 per cent of responses received, with three times as many in favour of St Modwen.
The SOS campaign centres on outline design proposals that were rejected years ago as commercially unviable and, to this day, have no support from a funding or development organisation.
All the campaign will achieve is to delay the project further and increase the risk of the pier being lost forever.
The St Modwen scheme seeks to regenerate an area of the esplanade that sorely needs it, as well as restoring the pier to its former glory.
Surely some limited obstruction by glass-clad buildings of certain views is a price worth paying to lift the surrounding area and save this wonderful structure for future generations?
