Doing his Charles Chaplin impersonation is Max Rosenbloom, a supporting actor of the Thirties and Forties affectionately known as Slapsie Maxie.
His usual role was as a friendly gangster beside stars such as George Raft, Paul Muni and Edward G Robinson. Maxie's first two films were Mr Broadway and King For A Night in 1933, the same year he won the light heavyweight championship of the world. He was still filming in 1969.
Once, in England, he was invited to a swanky party but had trouble with the butler, who said: "I'm sorry, sir, this event is for titled people only."
"I have a title," replied the completely nonplussed Maxie. "I am the light heavyweight champion of the world." He got in.
This charismatic character died in 1976 of Paget's disease.
