Thugs found a new way of terrorising a woman with epilepsy when they failed to rob her handbag or mobile phone.

The three teenage boys stuck a jar smeared with glue on to the hand of Wendy Thornton, who lives in Eastbourne.

It took hospital staff three hours to remove the jar and the stress caused Mrs Thornton to have four seizures.

No doubt these yobs thought it was great fun to cause distress to an innocent, middle-aged woman in this way as they rode off on their bikes.

It could have been much more serious had she suffered a seizure while the jar was still stuck to her hand.

There is also a sad lesson for Mrs Thornton who moved from Hastings to Eastbourne because she thought it was safer.

No town or village in Sussex can be regarded as safe from youngsters out to cause trouble.
