The Walk of Fame at Brighton Marina will be the first of its type in Britain and could become one of the city's most talked-about attractions.

Here are today's star names:

081: Mark Williams. Star of BBC2's The Fast Show whose delivery of the line "Suits you, sir" has become a national catchphrase. Moved to Brighton for a few months in 1995 and liked the city so much he stayed. He is a great Albion fan and is often seen at Withdean.

082: David Van Day. The blond singer from Eighties group Dollar, whose hits included Love's Gotta Hold Of Me. He was born in Brighton and still lives in the city, where he is also a businessman. He set up a food stall in the city centre.

083: Eric Gill. One of Britain's greatest sculptors, also a typographer, engraver and draughtsman. He was born in Brighton and founded the Ditchling commune. His works include the figures on the BBC building at Langham Place, the Stations of the Cross at Westminster Cathedral and the WH Smith logo. He created the Gill Sans typeface.

084: Marie Lloyd. For more than 30 years she was Britain's most popular entertainer. She loved Brighton and Brighton loved her. One of her first major performances outside London, where she was born, was at the Alhambra Theatre, which stood on the site of the Brighton Centre. In 1921 she performed at the Hippodrome, Brighton, in front of the Duke of York and the Prince of Wales.

085: Victor Chandler. The man responsible for establishing one of the first betting shops in Brighton, he went on to establish a chain in the city. He was very much part of the racing scene, owning several horses including Hi Joe, which ran in the 1965 Derby. He died of cancer aged 50 in 1974.

086: Lesley Manville. The girl from Hove who became a successful TV actress, appearing in various roles. She regularly used to scoop prizes in Brighton and Worthing as a schoolgirl. She has had major parts in Emmerdale Farm and Coronation Street, where she played Jill Mason. She has also appeared at the Royal Court Theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

087: Amanda Redman. The Brighton-born actress came to notice when was in the original cast of the Rocky Horror Show. She starred in For Queen And Country with Denzel Washington. She married Soldier Soldier actor Robert Glenister at her local church in Hove.

088: Roy Greenslade. This former sub-editor on The Argus went on to become editor of the Daily Mirror when Robert Maxwell was the owner. He has worked on virtually every national newspaper. He is married to feature writer Noreen Taylor and lives in Kemp Town.

089: Wilfred Pickles. An institution on the radio, with his show Have A Go, alongside his wife Mabel. He retired to Brighton, living in a flat on the seafront in Kemp Town. He died in 1978, aged 73.

090: Harvey Goldsmith. A top concert promoter who discovered his business skills while studying pharmacy at Brighton College of Technology. He formed Goldsmith Entertainments and has organised concerts for some top show business names, including Elton John and Pink Floyd.

091: Dave Sexton. The former Albion player who went on to become one of the most successful soccer managers of the past 25 years. He is still involved with the England football team and lives in Hove. His soccer career was cruelly cut short by an injury while playing for Crystal Palace. He went on to manage Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers, Coventry City and Manchester United.

092: Dennis Hobden. Post office worker who was one of Brighton's longest-serving councillors. He became Labour MP for Brighton Kemp Town in 1964 in one of the most sensational election results in the country, when he won the seat by just seven votes.

093: Charlie Chaplin. The most famous silent movie star, who went on the stage at age eight and spent much of his later life in Brighton. Before his death in 1977 he was a frequent visitor to Brighton and stayed in his own suite of rooms at the Royal Crescent Hotel.

094: Tom Bell. A successful actor who made his name in movies like Wish You Were Here, The Krays and the L-Shaped Room. He lives in Kemp Town, having moved to the city five years ago.

095: Dr David Bellamy. The TV wildlife and environmental expert who has become an institution on television through his deep and distinctive voice. He has been involved in many environmental campaigns in Sussex as well as a campaign to clean up Brighton's beaches.

096: Thabo Mbeki. One of the leading figures in world politics, the South African president studied at the University of Sussex in the Sixties. The former head of the African National Congress was made an honorary Doctor of Laws by the university in 1995. Probably the university's most famous student.

097: Jordan. One of the most photographed women in Britain today. She was born in Brighton and went to Patcham High School. Her modelling career began in Brighton and she has since appeared topless in many publications. She has bought several properties in Brighton, plus a large house with stables in Poynings.

098: Sir Herbert Carden. A wealthy solicitor who served twice as the Mayor of Brighton and was responsible for saving much of the downland around the city. Between 1896 and 1936 he bought 12,000 acres of land, including Devil's Dyke to save it from developers. He then sold it to the council at cost price.

099: Brian Capron. Actor who is a man of many parts. After 30 years in the business, he has appeared in everything from Shakespeare to The Sweeney. He is currently keeping Coronation Street viewers guessing in his role of nasty but nice Richard Hillman. In real life he lives with his partner and young family in Hove and is also a successful businessman.

100: Roger Neil. The former manager of the Theatre Royal, Brighton, who died in 1999 after a fight against cancer. He got to know most of the stars who appeared at the theatre and many remembered him from his own stage career as a young actor.
