Since the death of the Queen Mother, I am appalled at some of the remarks by certain people, especially those who feel we should do away with the monarchy completely.

Can one imagine what we would have in its place? President Tony springs to mind, or maybe the Mayor of London.

I hope we will keep a monarch but do away with all the hangers-on except the monarch's children.

Why not have a referendum? The money thus saved could go to new hospitals, railways and public services.
