Albion Reserves scored twice in the final 20 minutes to grab a well deserved 2-2 draw at Norwich and spare the blushes of keeper Chris Jones.

An own goal and close-range tap in from David Lee earned Albion an Avon Insurance Combination point after a blunder by the Australian trialist helped the Canaries to a 2-0 lead before the break.

Jones totally misjudged a high cross from the left from Darel Russell, allowing the ball to hit the crossbar, and he could do nothing when the rebound fell kindly for young striker Ian Henderson, who applied a simple finishing touch.

That goal put Norwich 2-0 up after 39 minutes, Chris Llewellyn having opened the scoring midway through the first half when he chipped the ball neatly over the advancing Jones as the visiting defence appealed in vain for offside.

The Aussie later atoned for his error by making an excellent stop to deny Alex Notman and went on to have a competent game between the sticks as Albion played some neat football in tricky conditions to work their way back into the game.

The visitors reduced the arrears on 70 minutes when a fiercely driven free kick from the right from Charlie Oatway was headed into his own net by Jason Shackell.

Nine minutes later they got a deserved equaliser.

The lively Chris McPhee, who had gone close on a number of occasions, took advantage of some woeful defending to make inroads into the box before squaring the ball to an unmarked Lee, who comfortably beat keeper Robert Green from close range.

Albion Reserves: C. Jones, Williams, Rowlands (Sansom 60), Virgo, Hemsley, Oatway, Lee, Rodgers, McPhee, Webb, N. Jones. Subs not used: Jackson, Wojciechhowski, Packham.
