A dance teacher who celebrates her Golden Wedding this summer wants to contact her former pupils who were her bridesmaids and pageboys.

Dawn Barnes has taught dance for more than 50 years at her school, the Dawn Jordan School of Dancing.

Her bridesmaids and pageboys created an archway as she and her husband, Ken, left the old All Saints' Church in Brighton, on September 20, 1952.

Mrs Barnes started dancing at the age of eight when she was taught ballet in the attic of her parent's house.

Mr Barnes was a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier HMS Vengeance and taking troops to the Korean War.

Mrs Barnes organised 29 consecutive annual concerts at the Dome in the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, to raise money for the Royal National Institute for the Blind.

She now hopes former pupils can join her and her husband when they celebrate their Golden Wedding in September.

She said: "Depending on how many people we can get in touch with, we will decide what to do then."

The couple live at Hillcrest, Westdene, Brighton.

Mrs Barnes can be contacted on 01273 500292.
