Schoolgirl Shakira Phillips was the envy of her friends today after she had breakfast with the stars at Southern FM.

Shakira, 11, winner of The Argus' Money Can't Buy competition, became a member of the exclusive on-air breakfast club when she joined DJs Danny Pike and Nicky Keig Shevlin during their early bird show.

The pupil at Cradle Hill, Seaford, said hello to teacher Mrs Taylor and classmates in 6BT.

Danny and Nicky showed Shakira around the studios and explained how the station operates. Afterwards, the trio adjourned for a slap-up feast at The Grand hotel, Brighton.

Shakira's mum, Sue, of Lexden Drive, Seaford, said: "She had the time of her life.

"At The Grand, the doorman opened the car door for her and escorted her to the restaurant and the manager showed her around the kitchens and other parts of the hotel. She loved the whole experience."

Shakira left clutching a bag of Southern FM goodies. Then it was back down to earth - and off to school.
