A mobile phone mast application may be turned down because it would be too close to an airport runway.

Communications company Hutchison 3G wants to put up a 15m mast on a farm bordering Shoreham airport.

Adur District Council's planning committee is expected to object to the project when it meets on Monday.

The council has received objections from residents and businesses.

The airport's surveyor said the mast would be within the safety area protecting the airfield and too close to the approach for planes using runway seven.

An electronics business said emissions from the mast could cause false readings on sensitive calibration equipment.

A report recommends refusal because "the mast would be within the safeguarding area for Shoreham airport.
