A six-day-old baby girl has died in what police believe was a tragic accident, it emerged today.
Six-day-old Shannon Murphy was rushed to hospital from the family home in Langney, Eastbourne.
Medics tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead on arrival at the town's District General Hospital.
A post-mortem examination revealed her death might have been caused by somebody accidentally lying on her.
Police said it was being treated as an accident. An inquest will be held.
