Dogs of all shapes and sizes are being measured up to model designer outfits on the catwalk for charity.

The top 20 pooches picked at audition will appear alongside professional London models in a show held by Southern FM.

Fashion students from the University of Brighton are designing the outfits and cash raised will help talented young people.

Student designer Charlotte Wiseman, 19, said: "There is so much scope for imagination in this project and I would like to go for something with a fun element."

More than 60 students are working on the show as part of their degree in fashion design with business studies. The show will raise money for Southern FM's Fun-d 2000, which provides grants to talented individuals in the areas of sport, education and leisure.

Project manager Stella Stedman said: "We are hoping for a big response from these auditions. It's dog idol instead of pop idol. We're looking for small or large dogs who are used to people."

The auditions are at Southern FM, Radio House, Franklin Road, Brighton, on March 8 from 8am.

The fashion show is at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, King's Road, on May 2. Call 01273 430111.
