Thousands flocked to see costumes worn by Hollywood stars.

The outfits, including those worn by Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth and Mel Gibson in Braveheart, were the highlight of the tenth Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Fair 2002.

The fair attracted 8,000 visitors to the Brighton Centre during the weekend.

More than 120 exhibitors, including beadworkers, fabric painters and designers, were on hand to share their creative knowledge.

Brighton artist Janice Britz demonstrated feltmaking and Aimee Saic, whose mosaics are used on the Orient Express, led a workshop.

Ms Britz said: "It used to be the older generation of women who were keen on textiles but now younger generations are showing lots of interest."
