Nigel Sweet asks if it is possible for a political void to implode (Letters, February 1). I don't know.

However, Mr Sweet was elected to Adur District Council on the socialist ticket with the highest majority anybody had ever had. At re-election, he was soundly defeated by the hard-working Conservative Paul Graysmark.

Now Mr Sweet is a political researcher for Des Turner, MP for Kemp Town, he has found some fancy language.

Unfortunately, he still has not learnt to engage the little grey cells before using it.
