Wealden MP Charles Hendry has been handed the task of persuading younger voters to support the Conservative Party.
Mr Hendry, a party whip, was unveiled as the party's first dedicated youth spokesman.
He will be asked to address the issues which affect people under 30 from the party's Front Bench in the Commons.
The 42-year-old faces a stiff challenge, with figures showing support for the Conservatives flagging among younger people.
Of a party membership of about 320,000, only 10,000 are under 30.
Mr Hendry, a honorary president of the British Youth Council, said: "We can make it fashionable to be a Conservative."
He looks set to focus on the issues regarded as important to young voters - the environment, education and training.
He has hinted at tax incentives for young people who "immediately find a large proportion of their income is taken off them."
The party is also planning a revamp of its youth wing, Conservative Future.
