Hastings clash with St Leonards in the big East Sussex derby at Pilot Field tonight with both teams desperate to win.

Title-chasing Hastings, just a point off the pace, could go top of the Dr Martens League eastern division if they win, although that will depend on how leaders Grantham do against Burnham.

At the other end of the table, Saints are enjoying something of a revival and moved out of the relegation zone with their second successive win on Saturday.

They beat Rugby United 3-1 in a match that featured six red cards, including St Leonards pair Simon Fox and John Odlum.

Saints manager Glyn White said: "Realistically we'll need to be on top of our game and Hastings will have to play badly if we're going to win. But the management and players go into this derby with confidence after back to back victories.

"I hope that the supporters get behind the team like they did on Saturday, when they were absolutely magnificent and very vocal."

Des Boateng will start for Saints. The 13-goal midfielder is wanted by Ryman League leader's Carlshalton but White is reluctant to let him go.

He said: "I've had two offers of over three figures for Des but I'm not in the habit of letting my best players go."

Striker Paul Jones (ankle), Stuart Playford (thigh), Danny Simmonds (ankle) and Steve Ferguson (knee) are all injury worries for Hastings.
