The recent case of the female firefighter complaining because she could not do all that was required because she was too short (January 31) is an example of the "one size fits all" idea of the Equal Opportunities Commission.
The height requirement of five feet six inches in the fire service should never have been abandoned.
It was done just to get more women of the right height to fill the quota set for the fire service.
There will always be people who will not be able to meet certain requirements.
You will never see a six-feet tall, ten-stone jockey riding in the Derby.
