On Boxing Day, The Argus printed an article about my son Anthony handing over a cheque for £3,000 to Cancer Research ("Cancer fighter's head for a cause").

We would both like to thank everyone that helped to raise this money.

A number of schools and businesses in the local area sponsored him, as well as friends, neighbours and relatives too many to mention.

Without their help and support, this figure could not have been raised.

We would also like to thank all the staff on, and associated with, Cawthorne ward at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital for their wonderful, ongoing care and for the support we have received from staff and pupils at Lewes Old Grammar School.

Anthony was well enough to be at home for Christmas, his 15th birthday and the New Year.

His chemotherapy treatment has now been completed and he will have to undergo further surgery as soon as he is well enough.

We are hoping all his treatment will be completed within the next couple of weeks and he will then undergo even more intensive physiotherapy to enable him to walk again.

The money raised was a wonderful achievement for Anthony and I would like to thank The Argus for printing the article and giving him the recognition he so deserves.
