So, the Labour Party has added its voice to the objections to the size of the share development to make the rebuilding of the West Pier viable (The Argus, December 21).

Surely it is time to put the old thing out of its misery? Has anyone asked why the pier failed in the first place.

Not enough people used it. The theatre closed because the audience didn't come.

The Palace Pier was not doing too well until the Noble Organisation took over.

There were the usual suspects complaining about the construction of rides but, if the objectors had their way, we might now be urged to support the Palace Pier restoration.
