The mother of a murdered schoolboy is to appear on TV in an appeal for help tracing her son's killer.

Valda Lyon, 83-year-old widow of Brighton band leader Ken Lyon, has never lost hope of seeing justice since the day her 12-year-old son Keith was stabbed to death 34 years ago.

She speaks to a photograph of Keith at her home in Hove every day and said her son's death ruined her life, the life of her late husband and their 40-year-old musician son Peter.

Mrs Lyon has vowed not to rest until the killer or killers of the talented musician, a "nice boy who would stand up against injustice", had been traced.

She is due to appear on BBC's Crimewatch programme on Thursday evening.

It was May 6, 1967, when Keith left the family home Ovingdean, Brighton, to buy a geometry set to use at school.

He was walking across the Downs to shops at Woodingdean when he was attacked and stabbed 11 times in the chest, back and abdomen.

No one knows why but boys were seen "larking around" where Keith's body was found.

The bloodstained murder knife was found near a wall and close by in toilets.

Tonight's appeal will focus on two people Mr Gaylor is hoping to trace.

One is a former teacher at the old Fitzherbert School in Woodingdean at the time of the offence.

The second is a woman called Margaret who worked in a butcher's shop near Bhs in Churchill Square, Brighton.

A £10,000 reward has been offered in connection with the murder and anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
