LastThursday afternoon, my wife and I took our seven-year-old grandson to see Father Christmas at the Gingerbread House.
What a revelation it was. The house is well decorated, Father Christmas's assistants are superb, polite and very nice, there was a only short wait in the elves' workroom before the short walk to Father Christmas's office.
Once there, my grandson was totally amazed when, to his delight, Father Christmas had remembered him and addressed him by name, Elliot. He went on to ask him various questions about his choice of presents. It was so great to see, in these current hard and sad times, a little boy in a world of make-believe, a total believer.
The Argus Father Christmas is possibly the very best I have ever encountererd and, together with the nice presents, the price of £3.75 represents good value. More to the point, the money is put to a very good cause. Hurry up, readers, and visit the Gingerbread House before Father Christmas departs on his rounds. Thank you, to all concerned.
