A Parcelforce van driver was seriously injured in a rush-hour crash on the A27 at Brighton today.
His van was involved in a collision with an 18-tonne tipper lorry carrying three tonnes of bricks on the eastbound carriageway between the A23 junction at Brighton and the Devil's Dyke exit at Hove.
The 8.50am smash blocked the road for a short time and lane restrictions were in place for several hours, causing tailbacks.
The collision left both vehicles on the crash barriers and oil and debris scattered across the road.
The van driver was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton to be treated for chest injuries.
The driver of the lorry was not believed to be seriously injured.
