It was most upsetting to hear how Harvey's Cross and the cottages nearby were used for target practice by the military during the Second World War (and subsequently used as hardcore for a new road) ("Remember when", The Argus Weekend, October 28).
Surely such traditional Downland flint cottages would now be rebuilt at the museum in Singleton?
However, is it too much to hope, since we are at war again, that Embassy Court could be destroyed?
Given modern precision bombing techniques, the building could be "surgically sanctioned" with little or no damage to the adjoining properties.
This would provide some much-needed action for our troops currently languishing on standy in the Gulf. I am sure they would most enjoy it.
