There are parking problems at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, with staff complaining they often have nowhere to put their cars.

Now Brighton Health Care NHS Trust wants to build an education centre on the car park of the nearby Sussex Eye Hospital in Eastern Road.

This will take away 60 parking spaces and some staff, including nurses, are worried.

But in a busy city such as Brighton, do the staff who drive there really need to come in by car all the time?

Two of the main bus routes in Brighton pass by the main entrance giving a service every four minutes during the day.

That, plus a park-and-ride scheme by the health trust could easily fill the gap if staff working at times other than in the early hours were prepared to co-operate.
