I shall not be voting for a directly-elected mayor at the forthcoming referendum.
To concentrate too much power into the hands of one person and a few cronies is asking for trouble.
Would it be pie in the sky to hope, one day, for a city council with a cabinet that included the best people from all the main parties based on the parties' share of the vote - perhaps with an independent as well?
This might mean the needs of the citizens would be put before party political dogma.
