Andy Crosby has been transfer-listed by Albion at his own request.

A meeting with boss Micky Adams has failed to ease the big centre half's frustration at being left out of the first team picture.

The Argus revealed a week ago that Adams had clear-the-air talks with Crosby.

The former Chester stopper was unhappy that Matthew Wicks was picked ahead of him to deputise for the injured Danny Cullip against Southampton in the Worthington Cup.

"Andy has asked for a transfer subsequent to the chat we had," Adams said. "At 28 he wants to play first team football and I can understand that.

"I told him to be patient, but that is unfortunately not one of the virtues of footballers.

"He did a magnificent job for me last season and I am disappointed he feels the need to get away, but I don't want to keep an unhappy player.

"We've not had a fall out or anything like that. It's been very amicable and I am going to try and help him get away.

"Simon Morgan and Danny Cullip have formed a formidable partnership. Matthew Wicks is ahead of him and James Virgo is coming through, so perhaps we've got one too many centre halves."

Adams will assess the scale of interest before deciding whether Albion demand a fee for Crosby.

He is out of contract at the end of the season after joining the Seagulls from Chester for £10,000 two summers ago.

Adams has urged table-topping Albion to make a fast start against shellshocked Bournemouth in tomorrow's south coast derby at Withdean.

The visitors were thrashed 6-0 at Peterborough on Tuesday, their heaviest defeat for almost two decades.

"A lot will depend on how we start the game," Adams said. "If we sit off them and let them play they will gain confidence by stringing passes together.

"If we get among them and ruffle them we will give them a test of character. I don't mean kicking them, I mean closing them down and stopping them from playing."

German striker Dirk Lehmann's hopes of a recall to the bench have been dashed by a groin injury.
