Conservationists are getting ready to clean up beaches along the coast.

Hundreds of volunteers will take part in the Beachwatch event run by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) on Sunday.

In previous clean-ups finds have included a glass eye and a urine testing kit.

Last year more than 1,350 volunteers collected about 185,000 items of litter from 150 beaches.

Karen Riley, of the society, said surveys carried out during Beachwatch provided essential data for targeting polluters.

One area to be cleared is the nature reserve at West Beach, Littlehampton, which still needs volunteers.

Prospective volunteers can call the MCS on 01989 566017.
