A virtual warehouse has been created by a Brighton company.

Supply chain management company Waer Systems has set up a system for checking stock via the internet.

The system also displays usage rates, impending shortages, deliveries and quality.

By submitting a user ID and password at the company's main page, manufacturers or supply partners can view the current state of their particular supply chain, obtain real-time data or request reports.

The system has been set up to anticipate customer demand. Predictive replenishment notification (PRN) predicts when the next replenishment will be necessary and sends an email alert.

Managing director Will Scott said: "We are able to adapt to and incorporate all the latest opportunities available from new technology.

"The provision of accurate and fully transparent data has always been an important benefit for WaerLinx users but, until now, information has only been accessible by those directly linked to individual installations.

"The world wide web has not only revolutionised the way we send and receive messages, but has also given us access to an enormous supply of information via computers in our offices or homes.

"The value of this technological breakthrough is obvious, not least in specific commercial applications where the ability to almost instantly access critical data is crucial to a company's financial and organisational performance."

The site has been designed to run on Microsoft Internet Explorer, the most commonly-used browser.

This enables anyone familiar with this software to quickly familiarise themselves with the virtual warehouse.

All documentation, including training and information manuals, can be accessed online in standard HTML format.

Waer Systems has offices in Brighton, Burgess Hill and Naperville, Illinois.
