STRESS, the scourge of modern working life, is being banished from the office by two Sussex women.

Experienced massage therapists Kim Cook and Chris Peates have set up a company called Works Wonders which visits businesses in the area to bring calm where there was tension.

Chris said: "It has long been recognised that massage can relieve many of the ailments caused by stress overload, such as muscle aches and pains, headaches, insomnia, irritability and lack of concentration."

Repetitive strain injury is another common problem the women come across.

Kim said: "This type of therapy is becoming quite popular in larger cities and is commonplace in the United States.

"Over there, preventative measures are seen as a way of rewarding staff as well as looking after them."

Kim said a simple treatment of ten to 15 minutes could go a long way to easing many of the problems experienced by stressed out people.

She said: "We're sure the benefits can soon be seen as morale improves and sickness bills reduce."

Kim and Chris met at Lewes Tertiary College, where they both took courses in massage, anatomy and physiology.

Kim stayed on at the college and qualified in Indian head massage and electrolysis.

Chris went to the ShenDao School of Oriental Studies, where she qualified in aromatherapy, Indian head massage and diet and nutrition.
