A man seen leaping from a notorious suicide spot was rescued after he landed on a ledge.
Coastguards took part in the dramatic rescue after witnesses reported seeing the man running and jumping from the top of Beachy Head.
He was knocked unconscious and his body became stuck on a ledge about 50ft down the 500ft cliff face.
Members of Coastguard's Eastbourne cliff rescue team brought the 40-year-old to safety about 3.40pm yesterday.
The victim remained unconscious throughout and was taken to Eastbourne District Hospital for treatment.
He has broken bones and there is the possibility of serious head injuries.
