Proving the point that transatlantic telephone calls are not a new event, I offer another of my supporting actor series.
This is Eric Blore, king of the scowlers and the most famous gentleman's gentleman of them all in the Thirties.
British and nearly always a valet, here he is with Rochelle Hudson (left) and Binnie Barnes (right).
They are in Hollywood, talking to Merle Oberon in London at the opening of Max Factor's beauty salon. The date is 1937, I think.
