Extroverts are being called to strut their stuff on the catwalk during a spoof beauty contest.

Littlehampton Arts, a non-profit-making organisation promoting and linking contemporary and community arts projects, is seeking contestants for the LA Street Arts Festival pageant.

Valerie Sturt, festival co-ordinator, said: "We've called it the Alternative Miss LA because it's a contest for anyone over the age of 16 who can offer something really visually unusual.

"We will be looking for extrovert people from the community who are willing to produce and wear extravagant, colourful costumes, sing, dance, do acrobatics, tell jokes, play instruments or just generally do silly things in front of an audience.

"There will be prizes for the winner, but the main purpose of the contest is for people to come up with some really unusual ideas and enjoy themselves."

Auditions will be held on June 10 and contestants will appear at the Windmill Theatre in Littlehampton on August 4 as part of the Seaside Glam Show.

Also on the bill will be dancers and Elvis Presley look-a-like Adam Ashcroft, of Littlehampton.

The Seaside Glam Show is a two-day event of Hollywood glitz and a celebration of the colourful British seaside.
