Littlehampton League champions Chichester slipped up 77-76 at home to Tarring Priory in the first match in defence of their title.

They got four points but improved with nine when winning 104-62 at home to Field Place.

Tarring Priory under-achieved last year but have made a good start including all ten points from an 80-60 win at Storrington.

Dave Thomas was top skip for Worthing Pavilion when they got six points from an 80-66 home win over Aldingbourne. They got eight when winning 86-66 at East Preston who also lost 77-73 at Aldingbourne with the home side taking six points.

George Cook, a 29-7 winner against Norman Brassington, was top skip for Field Place, who got eight points when beating visitors Storrington 104-62.

Other results: Norfolk 83 (8), Aldingbourne 73 (2); Aldingbourne 70 (2), Storrington 83 (8); Norfolk 90 (8), Hotham 76 (2).

President's Day was held at Bexhill (Polegrove) where 108 attended with president Mrs Hobbs-Pullen receiving a cut glass bowl from the Sussex Association and a vase from her club, Bexhill. Top rink (plus 12) for the President's team in a drive were Wendy Fuller (Popes Mead), Doreen Overs (Saffrons), Pat Nicholls (Fishermens) and Ruth Rose (Fairlight).

Sussex men's president Tony Willson took the county executive team to his own club Eastbourne at the Saffrons for the 91st season of the S.C.B.A.

Eastbourne won the match 127-105. Eastbourne president Tom Davies was not present so the club team was led by Sid Holford.

Brian Sherrell (Field Place), Ralph Cooper, Ron Surridge (both Gullivers) and Ron Ford (Popes Mead) were top rink for the President's team. Top four for Eastbourne were Bob Billson, Peter Wagstaff, Joe Wright and Max Plaice.
