Strikes by guards on South-West Trains scheduled for today and Tuesday have been called off.

The company and the RMT union have been in talks to resolve the long-running dispute about wearing bright red waistcoats and name badges.

South-West Trains operates some services between Brighton and Reading, stopping at stations in West Sussex.

A South-West Trains spokesman said: "We are pleased that these strikes have been called off.

"We have been working hard to come to a joint agreement with the RMT and we are glad that we have finally succeeded."
