A man who indecently exposed himself in his garden has been ordered to pay two neighbours £250 compensation for distress.

Graham Enright, 33, of Roedale Road, Brighton, had denied exposing himself to the women last summer.

He claimed he was sunbathing naked in his back garden and was unaware anyone could see him.

But at a hearing at Brighton Magistrates Court in April he was convicted of committing two offences in June and July last year.

The case was adjourned for reports to be prepared.

Enright, who has no previous convictions, was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £263 costs.

Julia Krish, defending, told the court the case had caused great distress for Enright, who now planned to move house.

She said: "The process of arrest and prosecution in his case has been a considerable punishment for him.

"The matter first came to his attention when a police officer knocked on his door last August.

"There has been no complaint of repetition since the last of the allegations last year.

"Mr Enright is a man with a good job which he is committed to. He is somebody who others think highly of."
