Luke Davis (Chichester) retained his under-15s' 3km crown at the Race Walking Association Young Athletes Championships.

He set a time of 15min.07sec at the event held in Perry Park, Birmingham.

Nick Ball (Steyning), under-13s champion last year, was second.

Peter Warren, also Steyning, took the bronze medal in 15min.48sec, 15 seconds behind, with club-mates Peter Cay fourth (16min.14sec) and Stuart Whythe seventh (18min.48sec) as Steyning took a gold medal in the team event.

In the under-17 girls' 5km event, Sophie Hales (Steyning) retained the crown with 25min.30sec.

Club-mate Joanne Hobson, who won the under-13s' title in 1999, took the under-15s' 3km crown (16min.44sec) with Emma Young, also Steyning, seventh (18min.38sec).

Derry Brown (Steyning), third last year and inter-county champion in April, won the boys' under-13s event in 10min.09sec.

The under-13 girls' won the team title with Hannah Pears fourth (12min.07sec), one second and a place ahead of Nicky Green. Grace Bovis was sixth, also a second behind.

The Christmas sisters Nathalie and Danielle, plus Crawley club-mate Charlotte Best, who all live in Surrey, were title winners at the Surrey Championships in Kingston.

Charlotte completed an 800m (2min.16.0sec) and 1,500m (4min.51.6sec) double at under-17s.

Nathalie took the under-20s' 400m hurdles crown (62.9sec) and Danielle the under-15s' 1,500m (5min.02.6sec).
