EXCLUSIVE: Albion are prepared to let Micky Adams determine the length of his new contract.

The Seagulls are so eager to hold onto him that a time frame for his revised deal has not even been discussed.

Adams is currently just over halfway through a four-year contract.

Albion want to reward him for the club's first championship for 36 years and chairman Dick Knight is continuing negotiations during the club's break in Marbella.

Adams revealed: "I have been offered a new and improved contract and I can decide myself basically for how long.

"I am thinking about it at the moment. Dick is over in Spain as well, so I am sure we will be having a chat.

"The terms have been agreed, so it is not a case of haggling for more money.

"I am not holding a gun to anybody's head in terms of finance. I am not a greedy man.

"There are things we need to improve on as a football club.

"There are aspects of the job which need addressing to make us better.

"I've had a chat with Dick about them and he agrees. He and the Board are trying their best to rectify the problems."

One bone of contention with Adams has already been resolved. Withdean 2000 have been informed in writing by Brighton and Hove Council that they cannot ground share at Withdean next season.

Other key issues include training facilities and the progress of new stadium plans at Falmer.

Adams flew out to Spain early this morning to join staff and players on a five-day break in Marbella.

They return on Thursday night to prepare for Saturday's last ever match at the Dell against his old club Southampton.

Adams could add Fulham stalwart Simon Morgan to his title-winning squad.

He had preliminary talks yesterday with his former captain at Craven Cottage.
