Every year, around this time, like the first signs of Spring, there is a flurry of letters from Conservatives in Brighton and Hove complaining about this year's council tax.
Every year, someone has to write in and remind people (if they need reminding) that the levels of council tax in Brighton and Hove are lower than anywhere else in Sussex, including all those areas run by the Tories.
Do they think people don't realise their council tax money is spent on useful and worthwhile things, such as local schools?
Their children may attend private schools but the children I teach don't.
It's about time they grew up and stopped trying to convince us that paying tax is some kind of highway robbery instead of a contribution to the public services we all need and use.
